What is RemotePC?

RemotePC enables secure and quick access to your home or office computer, from any Internet-enabled computer.

You have complete control over the files, programs and network resources in the remote computer and the experience of working on them, as though you were sitting in front of it.

You can choose 'RemotePC Basic plan' in case you require remote access to a single host computer. Else, pick a plan type that allows remote access to multiple host computers.

How to instal RemotePC?

a. Install the Host application: Download the setup file for the host computer from the RemotePC downloads page, double-click on the setup file and follow instructions. download remote access host

b. Install the Viewer application: Download the setup file for the viewer computer from the RemotePC downloads page, double-click the setup file and follow instructions. download remote access viewer

How do I change my Password?

Login to your account using the browser. Click on "Edit Profile". This will take you to the page where you can change your password and other details.

How do I retrieve my password?

Click on the "Forgot Password" link next to signup on the homepage. After you submit the details, a URL link will be sent to the email address, on record, for your account. On clicking this, you would be taken to a page where you can enter your new password. This will reset it. You can login, using your new password.

How do I change my profile?

To change your profile, please follow the steps,

Step 1
Enter the authentication information on the 'RemotePC' home page and login.

Step 2
Click on the 'Account Maintenance' link.

Step 3
Enter the 'Enhanced Security Password' and click on the 'Submit' button.

Step 4
Now, click on the 'Edit Profile' link. This will lead you to the page where you can update your profile like password, email address and phone etc.

What are the checks to be made before connecting to the Host Machine?

a. The Viewer and Host should have the same version number
b. Both the computers (Host and Viewer must be connected to the Internet for remote access
c. RemotePC Host application should be running on the host computer to receive requests from the Viewer
d. If required, setup the firewall and proxy to allow RemotePC

What are the power settings to be made on the machine where the Host is running?

Power settings should be Turn off hard disk to never, System standby to Never and disable Hibernation.


What type of internet connection is needed for using RemotePC?

While RemotePC works with any type of Internet connection, for the host application, we recommend a broadband connection such as DSL, Cable or T1. Most dialup Internet connections tend to disconnect after some time, which may disconnect the host from our servers and the viewer application may not be able to connect to the host application.Top


What are the restrictions for a Free Trial?

None. All the features of RemotePC can be tested using the Trial version during the 30-day period.

How is RemotePC different from Microsoft Remote Desktop?

RemotePC is easy to install, simple to use, and extremely secure. Key differences between RemotePC and Microsoft Remote Desktop are as follows:

  • For remote access outside the local network, Microsoft Remote Desktop requires a static (permanent) IP address, which RemotePC does not.

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop is difficult to set up. With RemotePC, you can set and start your remote access session in less than a minute.

How is RemotePC different from VPN?

The key differences between RemotePC and VPN are:

  • VPN needs software to be installed, and maintained by a company's network admin - this is costly to buy and set up. Firewalls on the remote LAN must be configured accordingly, to accept VPN connections. With RemotePC, no special configurations are required, since the application is firewall friendly.

  • VPN gives the local computer a connection to the remote LAN, but does not connect the user directly to the remote computer. Performance is typically poor for VPN access to resources over the remote LAN, when attempting file transfers or accessing remote files directly.

  • VPN client software must be configured manually by the end user, and usually requires some set up options dictated by the network administrator.

How to use the Remote Printing Feature?

To use the remote printing feature, ensure that you have 'RemotePC Image Printer' installed in the host machine. For this, right click on the RemotePC tray icon and select ‘Install Remote Printing Support’ option from the menu.

To print from the local machine using Remote Access Viewer application, select the required file from the host machine. Go to the application’s 'File' menu and click 'Print' option. Select ‘RemotePC Image Printer’ from the drop down box.

Preview of the file on the viewer machine is displayed. Click 'Print' icon in file preview to configure the printer that is attached to the local machine.

I need to share my account information with others for Remote Access. How do I enable better security for my account information?

RemotePC provides optional enhanced security option for such cases. Simply enable ‘Enhanced Security’ option in the profile page after you login via browser. Create an additional security password which would restrict access to your profile including credit card and billing information.Top


Is there a separate 'Remote Access Viewer' application for Windows Vista?

No. The 'Remote Access Viewer' application is common for all platforms. You just need to install the 'Remote Access Host' for Vista.Top


Will I be able to access my remote computer without any need to download additional software?

Yes, you can access your remote computer without downloading any additional software. To use this option, first log into your RemotePC account from the RemotePC website. You will get a list of all the available hosts (remote computers) in your account. Select the one that you want to access and enter the host key. Within seconds, you would be able to work on the remote computer.Top
